James Baker McCray
James McCray was of Irish descent.
• Residence: Lima, Ohio. This is a picture of the McCray homestead in Lima, Ohio. This was the family home built around 1859. It is located in German (now American) Township, Allen County, Ohio. Nancy Ward McCray and James McCray inherited the southeast quarter of Section 14 (160 acres) from William Ward. According to an 1880 plat map, the land had been sold and there was a home on the northeast corner of that quarter. Satellite photos show that a subdivision now sits on that quarter, but the house is still there. A visit to the site revealed that it is in very good repair. The northeast corner of the quarter is at the intersection of North Cole Street and Diller Road. This area is close to, and just northwest of Lima, Ohio.
